Project Engineer o Medium Altitude UAS (Poway, CA) in Poway, CA at DCS In this role you will provide full spectrum Test Engineering support for the USAF Medium Altitude Unmanned Aircraft Systems (MAUAS) Division at designated government and commercial facilities in the Poway, California, area.

This position requires on-site work at General Atomics corporate facilities and various government support locations.
Essential Job Functions:
Serve as a project engineer for developmental test efforts and function as a focal point for Flight Test Operations project execution, implementing management procedures and controls.
Provide advisory support, recommend project execution focus areas and support long-term scheduling of flight test activities.
Provide advisory assistance to the Government in their function of providing oversight and progress reporting support to ensure on-time completion and participate as an advisor in support of test meetings and planning sessions.
Review and coordinate test plans, safety packages, and flight cards with appropriate agencies with the goal of reducing or eliminating test redundancies between Developmental Test (DT) /Operational Test (OT) / Force Development (FDE) and to safely complete the project test.
Also, identify potential issues or areas for improvement and make recommendations to the Government for consideration.
Provide advisory and draft documentation support for the development and presentation of test reports.
Participate in ground and flight tests to include DT, OT, Joint Operation Test and Evaluation (JOT&E) and FDE testing and monitor the various tests.
Identify risks and provide advisory support to the customer by recommending potential mitigation strategies to ensure all flight tests are accomplished and on-time and with technical adequacy.
Facilitate problem-solving and collaboration and provide recommendations for Government consideration geared to optimize any Course of Action managing personnel and equipment to ensure all flight tests are accomplished and are on time and within scope.
Identify potential shortfalls in the management of project resources and provide recommendations to the Government for consideration.
Support the Government's function of coordinating aircraft maintenance, modifications, and test article configurations in accordance with approved modification practices and procedures.
Provide advisory and draft documentation assistance to the Government by collecting, assessing, and/or evaluating both subjective and objective data acquired through test execution.
Also, identify potential issues and make recommendations for Government consideration.
Advise, draft documentation, and make recommendations for Government consideration for the development of potential options for reducing the program test cycles while maintaining quality and high-confidence levels in finished products.
Basic understanding of Universal Armament Interface (UAI), UAS datalinks, MIL-STD-1553 bus protocol, logical interface control documents, and weapon telemetry systems.
Familiarity with the integration of air-to-ground and air-to-air weapon systems.
Understanding of weapon or tactical datalinks.
Support any UAS incidents that require Safety and Accident Investigations.
Facilitate the scheduling of unique test resources for such efforts, including, but not limited to, range, weapons, etc.
Function as the Program Office and Staff Level Support interface for specified projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:

BA/BS in engineering from college or university with an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited engineering program and 15-years of aviation test engineering experience, 5 of which must be in the DoD; or a MA/MS ABET engineering degree and 12-years of experience in the aviation test engineering field, of which 5 must be in the DoD.
A fully adjudicated DoD Top Secret and/or Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance (SSBI/T5/T5R within the preceding five calendar years) is required on the First Day of employment.
Advanced knowledge, experience and recognized ability to be considered an aviation test engineering expert.
Possess the ability to perform tasks and oversee the efforts of junior and journeyman personnel within the aviation test engineering discipline.
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the aviation test operations discipline as well as possess a comprehensive understanding and ability to apply associated aviation test engineering standards, procedures, and practices.
Possess the knowledge, experience, and demonstrated ability to perform logistics and have a demonstrated ability to work independently and apply the proper procedures and process related to aviation test engineering.
Proven ability to problem solve and troubleshoot various situations to develop successful outcomes within established program/project guidelines.
Must be detail oriented and able to work within specified deadlines.
Clear ability to take ownership of issues and pursue potential resolutions through to completion.
Able to work both independently and in a team environment.
