We have an exciting opportunity for an mid-level Systems Engineer to join our USAF Engineering team in Poway, CA and work on the development of cutting-edge technology for one of our flagship platforms, the MQ-9.
DUTIES &
Responsibilities:
Perform System Engineering activities primarily focused on Unmanned Aircraft (UA) related programs.
Develop System Architectures, Requirement Specifications, Interface Control Documents, and Design Descriptions as part of sustainment and new capability programs.
Support system design, development, test and verification activities.
Support development of proposals and white papers.
Elicit stakeholder needs, analysis and define requirements; to include allocation, decomposition and bi-directional traceability.
Determine system impacts based on functional analysis to a proposed change.
Resolve conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material requirements.
Develop practical solutions to resolve unusual or complex engineering problems.
Effectively interface with personnel, both internal and external to the organization, using strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Context for interaction may include technical reviews, meetings, system level integration events, or representing the organization as a prime technical contact.
Employ standard System Engineering practices and methodology utilizing available tools and resources.
Includes tools for requirements management (i.
e.
, DOORS), data management (i.
e.
, SharePoint), documentation (i.
e.
, Microsoft Office) and other similar tool alternatives.
Familiar with project execution using Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools, to include experience with applying these principles and a working understanding of Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF).
Includes tools which comply with the System Modeling Language (i.
e.
, MagicDraw with SysML plugin).
Develop and maintain engineering schedules/budgets for programs tasks or subtasks.
Provide direction to technical staff and be capable to lead a team of low to moderate experienced professional staff.
Capable to support lab, ground and flight test efforts; resolving resource or technical issues as they arise.
Capable to support quick reaction demonstrations for military exercises.
Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelors degree.
May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Must have a general understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.
Good communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Must be able to work extended hours as required.
An EIT (Engineer in Training) certificate is desirable.
